About Laurie Cameron
Meet Laurie Cameron, writer and fiber artist.
For nearly a quarter of a century, Laurie lived and travelled throughout many parts of Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America and Asia. She has survived a coup in Honduras, an attempted Al Qaida attack in Uganda, an army/paramilitary shootout in Malawi, earthquakes, dengue fever and malaria.
Two interests have sustained her throughout her many travels: fiber arts and writing fiction. She began by writing middle grade mysteries then moved on to adult novels. Her one requirement when a writing book is that it has a happily-ever-after ending. Her travwel adventurez provided fodder for some of her books. Others are inspired by current events or trends.
For twenty years, she was a quilting artist. Of late, she has developed a new art specializing in creating beautiful needle felted sculptures and characters from wool.
